West Haven VAMC Inpatient Pharmacy
Modern, Resilient Pharmacy for West Haven Veterans

The former pharmacy at the West
Haven Veterans Affairs Medical Center (VAMC)
faced severe space and system deficiencies, falling short of both U.S. Pharmacopeia (USP) standards and Department of Veterans Affairs
(VA) requirements. These limitations hindered campus-wide functionality and compromised service delivery. This new $10.3 million pharmacy
resolves those challenges with a modern, single-story facility designed to support inpatient services today and accommodate future
vertical expansion.
IntegralRSG and Meyer Borgman Johnson (MBJ) guided the project from design through
execution—supporting the Architect and Engineer of Record in developing final Construction Documents and specifications that complied with
stringent federal healthcare and security standards. Our team integrated advanced building hardening measures to mitigate credible
explosive and other threat scenarios, following the VA Physical Security & Resilience Design Manual.
Leveraging sophisticated 3D modeling of the healthcare campus, we evaluated existing natural shielding conditions and optimized enclosure
design. The result is a pharmacy that combines functional efficiency with protective resilience, ensuring Veterans receive care in a
facility that is safe and built to endure.
