192 Douglass Vehicle Deterrent Study
From Compliance to Confidence: Vehicle Impact Solutions in NYC
The new 22-story mixed-use development at 192 Douglass is reshaping the Brooklyn skyline along the Gowanus Canal. The project balances
historic character with modern growth and affordable housing, set against a backdrop of cobblestone roadways, brick-and-concrete
sidewalks, and the adjacent Department of Environmental Protection (DEP) Gowanus Pumping Station. In response to concerns raised by
multiple reviewing agencies, the design team incorporated vehicle-deterrent planters at the end of Douglass Street, providing both safety
and compliance with city standards while advancing critical approvals.
IntegralRSG partnered with Langan Engineering to deliver perimeter security with a focused vehicle impact study addressing NYC DEP and Department of Transportation (DOT) requirements. By quantifying the effects of potential accidental vehicle impact and aligning with agency guidance, IntegralRSG provided the technical clarity needed to move the project forward. This proactive analysis not only helped the client navigate the approvals process with confidence—it also underscores IntegralRSG’s role in shaping safer, more resilient urban developments.
